Every year since Sawyer was a baby, we have cut down our own tree. The first year we did it, we were so broke that we literally walked into the woods and cut down the most “Christmas-y” tree we could find. In the woods it looked full and not very tall, in our house it was hilarious- 8 feet tall, 8 feet wide, and so sparse. We laughed all month and it is one of my favorite memories.
A few years ago we found a wonderful farm we love going to, but this year I heard Santa would be at a different farm so we gave the boys the choice and they chose to try somewhere new and get to see Santa! It paid off- the owners were total sweethearts, the kids had a blast (and refused to let adults help at all which was adorable) and the Santa was the nicest Santa ever. He spent a long time with each kiddo and chatted with them about their interest and Christmas list. It was so sweet. Here’s to holiday memories!
