December is a happening month for birthdays in our families. We celebrated Brandon’s birthday two weeks ago, and on the 10th, there were five family members birthdays, plus my best friend! Normally, I’m not a big recipe sharer, mostly because I’m not all that exciting of a cook, but this cake is my favorite cake of all time. It’s delicious. Ugly, but delicious. I’m sure someone out there can give me some tips on how to pretty it up. Try it, you’ll be glad you did.
Turtle Cake:
1 German Chocolate Cake Mix
2/3 Cup Margarine
1/2 Cup evaporated Milk
1 bag of caramels
1 bag of chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350. Make the cake mix just like you normally would, then pour half into a cake pan and bake it for 15 minutes. While that is cooking, melt the butter in a pan, add in the evaporated milk and the caramels and cook it on low, stirring a lot, until it is all melted and gooey. Poor this mixture over the cake you had baked, then put the whole bag of chocolate chips on top of that, just spread them pretty evenly, top with the other half of the cake mix, and bake for 20-25 minutes until the top springs back when you touch it. Then, enjoy! This has been my favorite cake since I was a kid and on Brandon’s birthday it was gone in about 10 minutes. Next year, I’ll make two so we have some leftover ๐
