From the time Sawyer was a newborn, I have always loved bath time. I guess since we are such big water people- oceans, lakes, pools, we love the bath too. When Sawyer was born, I remember being so excited when they gave me that tiny hospital size bottle of Johnson’s® Baby shampoo and let me wash him for the first time. The boys love bath time too, and even though it isn’t as calm as it was with just one newborn, some things haven’t changed. They still love playing in the water, and we are still using Johnson’s® bath products. Because bath time is something that we all do so often, I thought I’d share some of the ways that we keep bath time fun and where we get my favorite bath time supplies
1. Bath Bombs!- These are first on my list because my boys are obsessed with them right now. When they don’t want to take a bath, the promise of a bath bomb is always enough to get them running towards the tub. They’re fun to feel fizz away, plus it’s a great sensory experience (the texture, scent, etc). We recently bought a DIY bath bomb kit and we’re excited to try making our own (I might even hide some little surprises inside them for the boys!)
2. Take bath time outside! In the summer, we spent so much time outside already, we might as well bathe out there too! We just take all of our bath supplies out with us and have fun! When we’re inside, I have to watch to make sure they don’t splash too much but when we’re outside, they can go crazy and splash as much as they want!
We have an outdoor kiddie pool that we’ve bathed the kids in more than once. Add some bubble bath and it makes the little slide extra slippery fun! Sometimes the hose water takes a minute to get used to, but as you can tell, they have a blast!
3. Let them wash themselves- If you don’t already, let your kids try washing themselves! You can always go back and go over what they’ve done, but my kids love it when we soap up the rag and let them wash themselves. It makes bath time last a little longer and it is great practice for getting older and more independent.
4. Bath Crayons!- Have you ever seen the cute bath crayons they sell? My kids LOVE coloring all over the bath tub (and each other) with them.
5. Try New Bath toys!- We’ve had everything from boats (the boys current and easiest to buy favorite) to xylophones to squirt guns as bath toys. Almost every year for Christmas we get the boys new bath toys. One of the biggest hits was when we just gave them all dish scrubbing brushes, filled the bath up with bubbles and told them to clean the bath tubs with the bubbles. It kept them entertained for a long time!
6. Add flowers- If you haven’t seen the trend of #flowerbath on social media, then you’re missing out on some seriously beautiful photography and a fun experience that’s easy to create at home. If your little one still puts everything in their mouth, this might be one experience you want to wait on until they are a little older, but it’s a pretty way of indulging your little one and bringing the outdoors inside!
7. Try new bath products (or new versions of the ones you love!)- Like I said before, we’ve been using Johnson’s® Baby products since Sawyer was a baby. We have a Walgreens just down the highway that I run to for anything we need- prescriptions, snacks, and last minute-items. The cashiers all recognize me because I stop in there so often and are always really sweet to the boys. I love wandering down the baby aisle and picking out new scents to try of the Johnson’s® washes and lotions. Even as the boys get older, I just love that I can trust it and it gets them clean and smells so good. They recently reformulated all of their products to be new and improved and came out with a new Cotton Touch line that smells fresh and feels incredibly soft.
I’ve been using the no more tangles detangling spray ever since Rhett grew his curls, and I actually use it on my hair whenever I get out of the shower too. We’ve been excited to try to the new reformulated versions, so I was glad to see Walgreens shelves stocked when I ran in the other night to get more. Johnson & Johnson has been around for over 100 years and their baby products have always stayed up to date so Moms can trust them to be the safest for their kids. Johnson Baby is 100% gentle, and free of parabens, and phthalates, is dye free and sulfate free.
I also picked up their new traveler set too. We travel a lot during the summer and we always bring along our own shampoo and wash for the boys. These make a great gift for new moms too. I don’t think there’s a single baby shower that I’ve been to in the last six years since having Sawyer that I didn’t include a Johnson & Johnson baby product.
8. Play pretend!- My boys favorite game to play in the tub is “baby otters.” Seems random, but they love wildlife, and otters slip and slide and love putting their head under the water. It’s a fun game that keeps them happy, just as long as they don’t splash too much!
I hope those ideas will keep your kids loving bathtime, and starting on 8/26, you can save $1 on any 1 JOHNSON’S® lotion, wash, or hair care item. It’s a digital coupon, so you don’t even have to print it off, just head to this link until 9/22 to load it to your Walgreens card!
