I know I promised to share our adoption story, but I finally looked through some of our pictures from Labor Day and I couldn’t wait to share them!
Brandon’s family has camped for years on an island in the middle of the lake. It’s completely primitive, and not only that, but it is only accessible by boat, which makes it extra cool and so fun. The kids have a pretty good run of the place (supervised, of course) and everyone gets plenty of sun and swimming in.
This was our home-sweet-home for the weekend. We bought this Coleman tent about four years ago and it has been my favorite tent ever. It doesn’t have the same cool “dark tent” feature as our other tent, but it easily fits our family of five with room to spare for bags and such. The pile of assorted bedding and laundry is the product of Sawyer getting a concussion and throwing up in the tent…that part wasn’t exactly the highlight of our trip, but most of the rest was!
Because Lake Wedowee is a river that was turned into a lake, it’s sprawling and there are tons of cool spots, like these cliffs we went jumping off-
Sawyer was a champ all weekend. He’s gotten old enough that he is really easy to take camping and had a lot of fun just playing with cousins.
One of Brandon’s cousin’s made dinner for all of us one night by using hot rocks to cook meat and vegetables in a pit in the ground all day. It was amazing. I mean, food always taste better at the lake, but this was seriously some of the best meat I’ve ever had.
I wish I had taken a picture of the food, but I was too busy eating it, so I’ll leave you with Ford’s opinion of it-
It really was the best weekend, and that is definitely in large part to how fun it was having so much family together out there. Also, our kids all now know how to use the bathroom (both #1 and #2) in the woods successfully. Not sure if that’s tmi or a milestone but it was worth celebrating haha
