We had the sweetest Christmas. We are really blessed that we get to spend a lot of time with a lot of our family and extended family, and we got lots of time with our boys.
Sawyer was the first one up on Christmas Day. He ran into my room and woke Brandon, Ford (who has silently climbed in our bed at some point during the night) and I filled with that Christmas-Morning-Kid-Excitement. Ford took one look out the window and said “It not Christmas. It not snowing.” When Rhett got up and joined the group, that was the first thing he asked about too- where is the snow? Two years ago Rhett had a meltdown and cried for almost an hour on Christmas morning because it wasn’t snowing. He was 2, so he had no concept of weather, but I guess we watched enough Christmas movies that he really thinks it will snow every Christmas! (We’re lucky we even got snow once this last year)
The boys had a great time opening presents of course. The big boys had each bought presents for their brothers and it was really sweet to see them get so excited to see their brothers’ faces when they opened their presents. It’s really heartwarming to see your kids think about someone else and care so much about others. Sawyer has always had a heart of concern for others, and for the past few weeks he had been really worried that Santa wasn’t going to bring Ford the present that he wanted for Christmas. For months now, Ford has only talked about getting one thing for Christmas and every time we talk about Christmas, he mentions “Marshall’s Fire Truck.” Sawyer knew we were doing a smaller Christmas this year and he also knew that Ford isn’t the best listener, and so a few weeks before Christmas he came to me and asked if he could buy a Marshall Fire Truck for Ford in case Santa didn’t bring him one. It was so sweet and on Christmas morning I could see Sawyer’s concern every time that Ford opened and present and it wasn’t the fire truck he wanted. Luckily for Sawyer, Santa knew how much Ford wanted that fire truck. It wasn’t until Ford opened it that Sawyer finally started playing with his own toys.
We had some really wonderful moments and some very sweet gifts. We also had lots of chances to talk about Christ and the real reason for the season. I hope all of you had a memorable and Merry Christmas as well!

I love this!! I have one son and it was his first Christmas this year. We don’t have a white Christmas here in San Diego. Sometimes it’s really sunny but this year it was raining. It was a nice change.
I love the idea of siblings buying each other gifts. Do you give them budgets for their sibling gifts or how do you decide how much they get to spend?

Thanks! Our oldest used the money out of his piggy bank so he chose how much to spend, and he had an idea in mind already, so he spent $3 per sibling. For the other kids sibling gifts, we just take them to the dollar store and let them pick out one item for each of their siblings 🙂
