Ever since posting the picture above to Instagram, I’ve had quite a few questions about Nugget Couches, and if they are fun for older kids. Many of their ads feature young children around toddler ages, but we’ve got an 8 year old, a 6 year old, and two 5 year olds.
Short answer: YES
If you don’t know what a Nugget is, they are a modular couch type thing for kids (and adults) made of high density foam. They consist of two large base pieces that can fold in half, and two triangle pieces. There are about a million different ways you can configure them and create different “builds.”
After having it for over a year now, I will tell you that the older two are honestly the two who have used it the most. They build forts, obstacle courses, mazes, houses for their stuffed animals, all kinds of things. Rhett also insisted on sleeping on it for about six months and we have used the flat pieces as beds when cousins have sleepovers multiple times. I have even slept on it a few times when Toan needed Mom close at night and it was comfy! The bottom pieces are a little smaller than twin size, so it was a little short but definitely better than the floor.
Honestly the Nugget has become our most played with toy, maybe aside from Legos, and I’ve actually gotten rid of a lot of our toys (and probably could get rid of more) because when they’re inside they play with the Nugget so much. Our Nugget is the Harbor color and I love the fabric (they have two different fabrics they offer). They are a little tricky to score, but have become more available this year, and if you are on the fence, I highly suggest going for it! We want to get a second one because we like it so much (my eye is on Atlantis).
What a great idea. I love this and that it encourages their imagination
