We began a project at our house last night that I have been dreaming about for years and years and years. Ever since exploring abandoned farmhouses in high school (yes, I was a strange teenager) I have wanted planked walls in my home so bad. Of course in my 70’s split level there aren’t any, so using this DIY tutorial we’ve begun planking! I’m calling it faux shiplap since shiplap is what the old houses had. We tried to do real shiplap but apparently they don’t sell it anywhere outside of Waco, Texas so we had to find something that looked similar and was still a great price. This is the goal look that I’ve been swooning over:(source)

Yesterday my mom had the afternoon off from work and so she came over and watched the boys so I could prime the walls and then we spent our Friday evening at Lowe’s getting all the wood. The baseboards are all off and this evening the plank boards will start going up! I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a home project, or this nervous. Hopefully it comes out as good as it looks in my head, either way I can’t wait to share it with you!

I can’t wait to see the final product! We’ve been wanting to do a shiplap wall for a while and I’m excited to see how yours turns out!
