This is why I love the internet. Not because it lets Miley Cyrus’ work go viral, but because it brings perfect, quiet stories like this to the world. Were it not for the internet, I would probably never have read this story, heard Fred’s name or been so touched by his “Sweet Lorraine.” These are the things that I feel are worth spending my time on the internet with, things that uplift us, and leave us a better person.
After writing a song about his wife, 96 year old Fred mailed in the lyrics to a local songwriting contest. He was not a songwriter, musician, or singer; he simply mailed the handwritten lyrics to the company and a letter explaining what they meant to him, what she meant to him, and never expected to hear anything back. Watch the video to hear the rest of the story, and grab a few tissues before you press play.
