This is why I love the internet. Not because it lets Miley Cyrus’ work go viral, but because it brings perfect, quiet stories like this to the world. Were it not for the internet, I would probably never have read this story, heard Fred’s name or been so touched by his “Sweet Lorraine.” These are the things that I feel are worth spending my time on the internet with, things that uplift us, and leave us a better person.
After writing a song about his wife, 96 year old Fred mailed in the lyrics to a local songwriting contest. He was not a songwriter, musician, or singer; he simply mailed the handwritten lyrics to the company and a letter explaining what they meant to him, what she meant to him, and never expected to hear anything back.
