With Brandon coming home from his four month long army training and getting back into the swing of things here at home, the boys haven’t been excited for him to leave for his monthly drill weekend this month, especially Sawyer. I think maybe he thought he’d be gone for a long time again; it’s hard to help toddlers understand separation. I’d been looking for something to help make the separation easier, and went to Walmart and bought Sawyer one of the new CloudPetTM Puppies.
I took my niece along to help me pick one out (and the AA batteries for it, of course)
CloudPets™ are cute little stuffed animals that Brandon can send Sawyer voice messages to anytime he wants. When a new message arrives, the little puppy’s heart lights up, so Sawyer knows he has a message from Daddy. He presses the hand, and can listen to his message. He was so excited the first time I showed him how to press it and he heard Brandon’s voice. He listened to it over and over and over. It all runs through an app on your phone, so you can delete messages if you get tired of hearing the same ones :). The app also has parental controls to approve other people to send messages too, or add more CloudPetsTM in the future. I like that as the boys grow, we could get Rhett one when he is old enough and they could both get special messages from Dad.
Sawyer gets so excited seeing the heart light up; it’s the same face I make when I get mail. I love that he knows Daddy is thinking of him and it gives him something to look forward to on those long weekends. Having something he can actually hold onto instead of just a picture has been comforting to him. You can even record a message and send it back from the CloudPetTM. Sawyer sent one back but I’m pretty sure it was just sounds of him playing with the puppy. Setting it up was really easy- 3 AA batteries, downloading the free app and it was ready to go; you can see exactly how it works here. CloudPets™ will be available at all Walmart stores soon, but are only in select stores right now.
How adorable is that little puppy? Sawyer insisted on putting it with the other stuffed animals he sleeps with and snuggling it all night; I don’t mind since it is super soft. Brandon’s been leaving his messages and Sawyer gets so excited when he presses the button and hears his Dad’s voice. What a great way for parents to let their kids know they love them even if they can’t be with them.
We are loving our CloudPetTM. How would you use a CloudPetTM to stay close to someone? Send one to a friend away at college or maybe a boyfriend or girlfriend? It’s such a sweet way to let someone you miss know that you are thinking of them and keep them close.

This is the sweetest and greatest thing ever! I can only imagine how much he absolutely loves that! I think anything that can make military life a little easier is the best!

For real, now if I could just get Sawyer to stop pressing it all night haha

My son wants one of these to keep in touch with my brother, but I think these are great for military families! [client]
